As Maddy Bennent cleans up vomit from the children’s playground outside, she is left wondering whether the $13 she will receive for the shift makes the job, “worth it.”
“I actually didn’t make it through the first online application. I had to apply three times to get this job,” she explains to The Footnotes.
“Sometimes I get to work and only get asked to stay for 3 hours. I might get yelled at by 30 people in that time and then I leave with $35.
“Sometimes I wonder, like, is it worth it? My neighbour said she’d give me $20 to clean her dog. I said no because the dog is gross and old. But like, today I cleaned up vomit and then had to clean the grill – which is probably worse.”
